Mike Patrick Is Concerned About Britney Spears

Posted by Matt on September 27, 2007

Apparently an overtime game between two SEC heavyweights wasn’t intriguing enough for former ESPN Sunday Night Football dud Mike Patrick as he felt compelled to share his fears and apprehensions regarding Britney Spears with the entire nation in the middle of the Georgia at Alabama game last weekend.

He actually prefaces his statements with: “I have an important question.”

Are you shitting me?  I have an important question:  Why the hell does this guy still have a job?  Of course it would be too easy and logical to discuss what play-calling direction Georgia might go after they break the huddle on their first snap of Overtime.

When Britney Spears is the hot-topic of conversation during a possible make-or-break game for two giants in the toughest conference in America, the terrorists have won.  When this is what the media has come to, we might as well give up…the apocalypse may already be upon us.

Oh yea, and the reactions of his fellow announcers are rather priceless…

Since when has pop culture been immersed into sporting events except for halftimes and Super Bowls?? Mike Patrick is ridiculous and should be suspended. If he possessed any football knowledge, he’d have leeway with these asinine comments – but this is not the case. Other ESPN commentators should take notice of this because they are not cream-of-the-crop broadcasters by all means.

Guys, go to Spock’s website and vote on tags of Mike Patrick. Tag him with “idiot” or “Britney Spears.” Here’s the link:

    What an idiot…….

I thought I was hearing things when he said that.

Good thing they replayed it enough for me to convince myself that I wasn’t crazy and it was all his stupidity.

I have to agree that Mike Patrick is responsible for one of the greater WTF?! moments of sports broadcasting, and if the Razzies expanded to news and sports coverage, it should get several. I couldn’t watch the rest of that clip, because it was too painful.

  4. I think it’s only a matter of time before Britney runs over a photographer and kills ’em. What happened to that sweet old Britney we used to know and love?
