Matt’s NFL “Nasty Boys’ Bets” – Week 1

Posted by Matt on September 9, 2007

Ah, the NFL season is finally upon us as the Indianapolis Colts kick it off in style at home against the equally as explosive Naw’lins Saints. The majority of the week’s games aren’t until Sunday, but I’d be lying if I said all of you still won’t be huddled around your computers all night tracking fantasy scores to see how many points Reggie Bush scored for Todd against his arch-rival, “Romeo Crennel’s Waistline.” It’s the simple things in life, right?

Anyways, without further ado, my “Nasty Boys’ Bets” for the week that will be…

Straight Up:

Shitsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Clowns – 1:00PM Sunday

Nasty Boys’ Bet: Pittsburgh Steelers

This one won’t be a landslide as the Steelers like to run a lot, especially at the end. “Big Ben” will be in the game to just NOT screw up and the Steelers walk away with a victory despite the game being in Cleveland. Coach Romeo flips a coin to see whether or not he’ll even show up to watch the beating and Clowns fans get out the brown paper sacks and scissors.

Against The Spread:

Carolina Panthers at Saint Louis Rams (-1) – 1:00PM Sunday

Nasty Boys’ Bet: Saint Louis Rams

Unless the spread changes before game time, the bookies aren’t giving much in the way of any help to the Panthers. This one is on turf in front of Saint Louis’ fans, both of which benefit the Rams over the Panthers. If the Rams win this one, it will be by a touchdown, or more, and though a healthy Steve Smith will help the Panthers, if this one comes down to a shootout, I’ve got Bulger and Company over “daylight come and I wanna Delhomme.” On a side note to this, if you’re in a fantasy league with team defense, you may want to consider benching the Panthers as the Rams should put up some points.

Author’s note: These bets are simply for novelty as I am by no means an expert. Myself and “The Nasty Boys’ Sports Blog” are not responsible for any gambling losses due to this article. You shouldn’t bet the house on the opinions of a college student, , anyways. But if you do, you probably deserve to lose…

One Response to “Matt’s NFL “Nasty Boys’ Bets” – Week 1”

  1. My week 1 lock is the Detroit Lions playing in Oakland against the pathetic Raiders. In a Weiss-esque move, former college assitant coach Lane Kiffin has yet to announce who his starting QB will be for week 1. This strategy didn’t work out for Chuck and it wont work out for Lane. The reason is simply that no matter who Oakland starts, whether it be “my knee hurts” Culpepper, McClown, or God himself, the Raider’s season will be similar to last years… abysmal. The fact that the Lions are getting 2.5 makes it that much easier to pick “the dogs” in this game.
