July Fourth Aftermath
Posted by Matt on July 5, 2007
I hope everybody still has all of their appendages after the Fourth of July celebrations. Not a whole lot to report on but we will recap the day that was…
– Rumors are circulating now that former Arizona Diamondbacks manager and current Chicago Cubs announcer, Bob Brenly, may have emerged as the front runner for the Cincinnati Reds managerial position. Brenly posted a 303-262 record while with the Diamondbacks including the 2001 World Series victory. More to come on the search for the new skipper for the Redlegs as they fell 5-9 yesterday afternoon to the San Francisco Giants.
– According to the D.E.A. (Drug Enforcement Administration), Chris Benoit’s name had been linked to a steroid investigation but had not yet been charged with any crimes and his supply continued through May. According to an ESPN.com article a D.E.A. affidavit claimed Benoit was receiving a 10-month supply every three to four weeks. As more details surface the picture becomes clearer about how many problems Chris Benoit really had including and apparent addiction to anabolic steroids. We will keep you updated on the on this ongoing story.
– P.J. Carlesimo is rumored to be the new head coach of the Seattle Supersonics and with the young team they are building in the Pacific Northwest I am not sure if P.J. is the right fit but he has made a new name for himself on the bench of the San Antonio Spurs amidst their success and seemed to have a good rapport with the players there.
– And lastly, the United States has regained the hot dog eating title as American Joey Chestnut defeated reigning champion Takeru Kobayashi by downing 66 hot dogs in 12-minutes in the annual July 4th competition. Chestnut’s 66 set the new world record and is actually quite disgusting.
Check back early and often as there is always more to come…
