Saturday Afternoon Update
Posted by Matt on June 16, 2007
Just a couple of notes this slow, Saturday afternoon.
– Tune in to the U.S. Open now as Tiger is 2-under through eight for the day and just two strokes off of the lead after starting five behind at mid-day. There is a lot of good golf going on right now and Woods is charging up the leaderboards. Also, Oakmont Country Club is in absolutely exquisite condition this weekend and might be the most well prepared course for a U.S. Open that I can remember in recent history. Kudos to their greens keepers…
– The Cincinnati Reds lost to the Texas Rangers last night by a final score of 6-7 on a Sammy “‘Roids’n’Corks” Sosa Grand Slam off of Matt Belisle. Despite the loss and with these trade rumors the past couple days, Adam Dunn is really playing well and it seems as if he is auditioning for something. “Dunner’s” line the past four games since the trade rumors fired up:
9-18, .500 BA, 4 RBIs, 2 Runs
Dunn hitting for average? We ought to tell him he’s getting the axe more often…
– Tomorrow is Father’s Day, so everyone who has a father, here is a friendly reminder to send a card, place a phone call, or relinquish the remote control. If you are a father, well it is your day so play a round of golf, maintain possession of the remote control and force the youngin’s to watch the “Rambo Marathon” all day, get drunk, and just generally don’t take shit from anyone, kids included.
Not much today other than the U.S. Open consuming my life right now, so I thought I would drop a small note. The “Hottie World Series” will continue through the weekend and beyond, ought to be entertaining. Also, the NASCAR preview will be up in the morning and there will hopefully be another edition of “The Sports Shorts” by weekend’s end or early next week. There is a third offering of “You’ve Got To Be Kidding Me” on the horizon about the ongoing Jason Giambi versus Bud Selig saga and my position on the matter might surprise you. As always, stay tuned!
