Memorial Day Quick Recap
Posted by Matt on May 29, 2007
Just a few thoughts this morning before bringing some solid stuff this afternoon…
– The Cincinnati Reds FINALLY won on the back of starting pitcher Kyle Lohse who hurled a complete game, 6-hit shutout in a 4-0 victory in the final game of a 4-game series against the Pirates (though George Grande and Chris Welsh INSIST on only calling them the “Buccos”). The win ended a 6-game losing streak at home and completed the home stand at 2-6. The Reds seemed to be playing inspired ball after Ryan Freel left the game in an ambulance with what ended up being a head and neck contusion. Freel will be out indefinitely at this juncture but it is frustrating to see that it took a horrific injury to a fan-favorite to light a fire under this team’s ass. Reds leave the unfriendly confines of Great American Ball park for another 3-stop road trip.
– The San Antonio Spurs dominated Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals last night and with the series heading back to San Antonio, Carlos Boozer and the Utah Jazz are all but done. The Jazz may steal one from the Spurs but not much more and either way, the Spurs will have the series in six games, or less.
There is not much of anything else to report on for the morning block but more to come today and this week, lots of exciting things planned so stay tuned.
