– The Cincinnati Reds beat up on the Houston Astros 9-5 yesterday in typical Reds fashion: home runs. The Reds had three long balls on the day and Adam Dunn was a single away from the cycle. Dunn has two triples in as many weeks and quite frankly I do not understand it. Adam has got to be one of the slowest guys in the Majors not named David Wells and for Dunn to “leg out” a triple, the outfielders have got to be kicking the ball around or something. Nonetheless, the Redlegs leave the friendly confines of Great American Ball Park for a West Coast swing that includes stops at Los Angeles and San Diego. Three games in each city with teams that are both pitching a playing quite well right now and I am predicting a 2-4 record on the road stand.
– The Golden State Warriors take on the Utah Jazz in Game 3 of that series tonight at 9:00PM. The Jazz are up 2-0 and it is now-or-never for Baron Davis and Company as going down 3-0 in the series would all but end their “Cinderella run” to this point. Game 2 was exciting and went to overtime so expect more of the same tonight.
Fairly slow news day in the world of sports but there are stories developing with Dale Earnhardt, Junior leaving D.E.I. after his contract runs out. Ricky Williams is back in the headlines…again…and I hope to have my thoughts on that up by the end of the day as well as a piece on the NBA that is about 75% completed. That is all for the mid-afternoon block…I’ll be back on later with some other items…
