Cubs Go For 10,000
Posted by Bob Swerski on April 23, 2008

The Cubs are going for their 10,000 win today (Wednesday, April 23) against the Colorado Rockies. It is nice to talk about such a historic franchise and NOT talk about a record having to do with losing. There is only 1 other team to reach this historic mark, the New York/San Fran Giants. This begs the question: “How can a team that hasn’t won a championship in 100 years and hasn’t even seen the World Series since the ’40s possibly have more wins than a team like the Yankees who have 25 championships?”
The answer is that I have no idea, but it is pretty amazing.

They don’t call them America’s loveable losers for nothing.

Yeah, well…guess what…
I, for once, am actually speechless. The Redlegs are back home in last place in the Division.

How about those Cardinals. Bob, championships are so much better “then” (let’s make it “than”) regular season wins! :)

This is perfect example of a moral victory, something Cubs fans so desperately need year in and year out. If they knew what it was like to win the big games, then (it actually is t-h-e-n this time, Bob), and only then would they realize why nobody remembers second (or last) place.

Boy, Bob is getting raked over the coals for this then/than issue. I blame the booze. Maybe I’ll start editing comments to prevent further crucifying?
But no, seriously, he was probably drunk.

Well, drunk is a good excuse. If I had known that, I would have overlooked it!

If Bob is a Cubs fan, t-h-e-n I completely understand the booze AND the misspelling. And that’s nothing against Bob personally - if you want to understand my feelings concerning the Cubs and their fans, check out my latest blog.

For this reply I shall leave out all punctuation because I can do whatever the hell I want St Louis sucks not just the Cardinals but the entire city the people suck the city itself sucks the food sucks the weather sucks everything about it is just one big entire suck fest if by chance I ever lived in St Louis Im sure I would hang myself because it simply sucks
The only redeeming quality is Bud Light but everything else sucks
